Brazil is the second biggest GL events operation in the world, among the 27 countries where the multinational operates.
French company has already invested R$ 1 billion in the country.
GL events Exhibitions is part of the French multinational GL events – one of the main players in the world events market, present in 27 countries. An important catalyst for business with the organization and promotion of B2B and B2C events, it is responsible for holding representative congresses, festivals and fairs in various segments of the economy: Rio Book Biennial and Bahia Book Biennial, in the Publishing Market; Mondial de la Bière and Brasil Brau, in the Brewing universe; Estetika Congress and Fair, the most important event in Aesthetics, Health, Beauty, and Wellness in Latin America; and ExpoPostos & Conveniência, the largest event in the fuel and convenience sector in Latin America. Attentive to the needs of its public, it develops products that stimulate visitors’ contact with the main trends and news, encouraging discussions of relevant content, interaction and networking, as well as generating business.”
MARKET LEADER IN BRAZIL
In Brazil, the company reproduces the business model of its parent company, with a portfolio of companies that operate in complementary business lines. GL events Venues manage spaces for trade fairs, congresses, concerts, and cultural, sporting, and social events. It currently manages the São Paulo Expo convention center – Latin America’s leading events destination – and Riocentro, the most complete events and convention center in Brazil, which also has a high-standard hotel to meet the demand for events. In Rio de Janeiro, it is also responsible for the Jeunesse Arena, Brazil’s first multi-purpose arena. The venue received investment from GL events to make it one of the most modern in the world. The three venues host more than 300 events and more than 4.5 million visitors a year.
In July of this year, the company won the tender for the concession of the Salvador Convention Center for the next 25 years. During this period, the company will invest around R$50 million in the facility and its goal is to contribute to enhancing the destination, boosting the local economy and transforming the city into one of the most important event destinations in Latin America, alongside São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
In terms of event organization projects, GL events Exhibitions is responsible for business and entertainment events such as the Rio International Book Biennial, Mondial de La Bière Rio and São Paulo, Rio Matsuri festival, Ceará Kite Pro, Kids Festival, Streetopia, Estétika, Expopostos and Brasil Brau.
INTERNATIONAL EVENTS
On the other hand, GL events Live specializes in the design, production, and supply of services and installation of temporary structures for events of all types and sizes. The company has worked on the assembly and supply of temporary facilities for all the major international events held in Brazil and Latin America – the 2007 Pan American Games, Rio + 20, the 2013 Confederations Cup, the 2014 World Cup, World Youth Day and the Rio 2016 Olympics, as well as sporting events and festivals such as Formula 1, Game XP and Rock in Rio. This year, GL events Live has further expanded its structure to cater for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 25) in Madrid and the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.
“Our business is focused on developing and enhancing the destinations in which we operate. As we operate in 27 countries, we use our commercial strength, expertise and network to ‘sell’ the Brazilian destinations in which we operate on the national and international markets and consolidate the country as the powerhouse that it represents,” says Damien Timperio.
